London Tour Vlog | Mental Health in Construction | Day 4 🏗️🧠

The MYH Podcast

Welcome back to Episode 4 of my London mini-series vlog, where we continue our mission to raise awareness about mental health and well-being in the construction industry. Today’s vlog is a bit shorter, but still packed with important conversations and valuable insights from workers across the city. Day 4 – On-Site Mental Health Conversations 🚧💬 Thursday’s tour was a little easier on the travel side—both sites were right next to each other, which meant more time to chat with construction workers and less time stuck in traffic! Here’s what went down: ✅ First site: A social housing maintenance company—these workers are out every day, keeping homes safe and liveable for thousands of people. It was great to talk with them about managing stress, dealing with burnout, and where to find mental health support. ✅ Second site: A multi-story apartment block under construction. A busy site with a diverse workforce, which came with a new challenge—language barriers. Despite that, we still managed to have some great conversations about well-being, stress management, and seeking help when needed. ✅ Total conversations today: 90 construction workers spoken to about mental health support and where to get the help they need. Why Mental Health in Construction is So Important 🏗️🧠 Long hours, tight deadlines, physical exhaustion, and financial pressures—construction is one of the toughest industries when it comes to mental health. But too many workers still suffer in silence. 👉 Did you know that construction has one of the highest suicide rates of any industry? It’s time to change that. 👉 Many workers don’t know where to turn when they’re struggling with stress, anxiety, or depression. 👉 Talking about mental health on-site can make a massive difference—letting workers know that help is available and that they’re not alone. Lessons from Today 🎥 Communication is key—not just in construction, but in mental health awareness too. Even with language barriers, it was clear that workers want to talk, want to share, and want to feel supported. This just proves how important it is to keep pushing these conversations forward in every corner of the industry.
